It's common knowledge that parenting isn't an easy task; would be much easier if directions were attached to each child. In Conversations with My Daughter, author Robert Veres takes a humorous approach to child rearing as he applies a firm, wise hand to the parenting tiller. Veres shares imagined parent-child dialogues aimed at helping parents understand exactly what to say when confronted with the many difficult or unexpected situations they are likely to experience. In this hilarious guide, a father matches wits with his daughter, drawing conversations from every stage of life-from the battle over bedtime and the candy counter at the grocery store to driving off inappropriate (or scary) boyfriends to selecting the right college-along with everything in between. Seeking to raise the quality of parenthood around the globe, Conversations with My Daughter captures some of the truly inspirational thoughts, wise sayings, and observations that can help parents guide children through the turbulence of adolescence-and provides everyone with a few laughs along the way.

We're hearing about the Asian "Tiger Mom;" but what about the American Tiger Dad? Now it's time to compare and contrast these two ruthlessly uncompromising parenting styles. The Tiger Mom strictly requires her kids to practice the violin for three hours every day. The Tiger Dad has set an absolute and unwavering rule that his kids may not send out for pizza after 3:00 AM on a school night.
The Tiger Mom demands nothing but A-plus grades at school. The Tiger Dad absolutely insists that his kids be quiet and not distract him while he's doing their homework.
The Tiger Mom keeps younger children on a rigid and inflexible schedule. The Tiger Dad engages in a complicated bedtime ritual that involves two and a half hours of stalling, where the daughter complains that she is not sleepy, getting a drink of water, going to the bathroom, picking out books for the dad to read, complaining more loudly that she's not sleepy, going to the bathroom again, changing into pajamas, sneaking downstairs to turn on a movie, getting another drink of water, bargaining for four books rather than the usual three, going to the bathroom again, complaining that her close friends get to stay up until 4:00 in the morning, grumbling about the unfairness of not being allowed to get another drink of water...
If you've ever been a parent, or been parented, you'll see the reality on every page. Except that reality has never before been this funny.

Conversations With My Daughter Robert Veres 9781462083749 Books Reviews
This was a book that was full of such hilarious stories! Each chapter offers even more smiles and fun for any father or any parent. As a father of two girls myself I have to say that I loved each of these chapters and I found myself not wanting to put down the book as they made me laugh more and more and I even found stories that I found myself telling my friends about. I highly recommend this book to one and all, you will not be disappointed!
This book had me cracking up from the page 1 to 107. It gives great examples of how parenting can be fun through all of the stress. Even though it specifies with daughters, the techniques used can work with any gender of children. Bob obviously is very skilled with children and it shows throughout the book. This would be ideal for baby showers, birthdays, or just for a good laugh. This has to be one of the best books I have read in a while. I would DEFINITLY recommend it.
Veres writes along the lines of "a rich man's Dave Barry," but less predictable and more profound.
To enjoy this book you certainly don't need to be a parent, but it helps to have a fairly finely-honed sense of humor (unless you're British- then sense of humour.) As with all good comedy there is a large foundation of frightening reality in each allegory.
I imagine this would make a great gift for anyone who is a parent, or even has had parents who have (at least so far) managed to escape institutionalization while undergoing similar experiences.
WAY COOL, POPS !
I laughed. I cried. I laughed again. Bob is an excellent writer and has great insight into being a father. Fun!
Completely fun, poignant and real. A readable, translatable & relatable romp between dad & daughter. Dare I say..delicious? Thanks, Robert!
